COVID Guidelines

STORM COVID GUIDELINES

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • STC STORM will follow all current D303 and facility COVID protocol safety guidelines.
  • STC STORM will follow all IHSA and IDPH sport safety guidelines for indoor sports, including a mask requirement for all players, coaches and spectators. 
  • All players, parents, participants, volunteers, and coaches should conduct a health self-screening prior to attending practice/game and ask the following questions. Parents should conduct the health screening with their child.
    • Are you experiencing the following: fever (100.4° and above), cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle aches, headaches not related to caffeine, diet, hunger, migraines, or tension?
    • Have you been in close contact with anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19 or has symptoms of COVID-19?

If the answer is “YES” to any of the above questions: Participant will not be allowed to participate and must not attend practices or games.

  • All D303 COVID protocol and guidelines must be followed if a STORM coach or player tests positive.
  • To comply with D303 protocol safety guidelines, practice and game times have been staggered to minimize occupancy levels. All coaches, players and spectators must leave the gym and exit the building immediately. Loitering is not allowed. Coaches, players and spectators must not enter the building until the previous game/practice has ended and everyone has cleared the gym. If a school event is running late, no one is allowed to enter the building until the gym has been cleared.
  • The following spectator limitations and social distancing will be implemented at all games.
    • At elementary schools, two spectators per player are allowed.
    • At middle schools, a 6ft distance should be kept between each family.

PARENT/GUARDIAN EXPECTATIONS

In addition to the General Guidelines listed above, parents/guardians are required to do the following:

  • Must provide a mask for your child to wear at all times (entering and leaving facilities and during practices and games).
  • Be sure your child has necessary sanitizing products with them at every training/games.
  • Ensure your child brings his or her own equipment including bag, water bottle, basketball, and gym shoes.
  • Ensure all equipment (basketball and gym shoes etc.) are sanitized before and after every training/game.
  • Parents/guardians are not permitted inside facilities during weeknight practices. Please drop off and pick up your player outside of the building. (See General Guidelines)
  • Teams must remain outside of the facility until the previous team has completely exited the facility. Do not arrive more than 5-10 minutes before scheduled practice or game time. (See General Guidelines)

PLAYER EXPECTATIONS

In addition to the General Guidelines listed above, players are required to do the following:

  • Face masks, covering nose and mouth, are required for games and practices at all times.
  • Participants must provide their own equipment (basketball and gym shoes, etc.) to each practice.
  • Players must bring their own source of water. Water fountains will not be available.
  • Players must remain outside of the facility until the previous team has completely exited the facility. Do not arrive more than 5-10 minutes before scheduled practice or game time. Staggered start times will be implemented. (See General Guidelines)

COACH/TRAINER EXPECTATIONS

In addition to the General Guidelines listed above, coaches/trainers are required to do the following:

  • All coaches/trainers must wear face coverings over their nose and mouth at all times (exceptions can be made for people with medical conditions or disabilities that prevent them from safely wearing a face covering).
  • Coach must take attendance for each practice and game to assist the Kane County Health Dept should a need for contact tracing arise. All D303 COVID protocol and guidelines must be followed if a STORM coach or player tests positive.
  • Teams must remain outside of the facility until the previous team has completely exited the facility. Do not have players arrive more than 5-10 minutes before scheduled practice or game time. (See General Guidelines)
  • Ensure all athletes have their own individual equipment (ball, water, bag etc.).
  • Coaches are responsible for following all D303 and facility COVID protocol and safety guidelines.
